“Almost half of New Zealanders are not convinced global warming is real, a survey suggests. Thirty-eight per cent said global warming was a serious problem that needed action now, 13 per cent said it was the world’s biggest challenge, and 2 per cent did not know.” says The Herald. 

It took a long time to scientifically prove that smoking was bad for health. But where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Climate change feels a bit like that. Might be best to assume the worst and take necessary precautions. However, those that think it’s the “world’s biggest challenge” are going right off the deep end.

On Guy Fawkes night Britain’s High Commission in Suva provided fire works in the form of a presentation based on “An Inconvenient Truth”.  This in the same week that the UK’s increased discriminatory Air Passenger Duty (APD) comes into effect. Green Fatigue

nzfromspaceA survey has found New Zealanders are suffering “green fatigue” through constant warnings of an approaching environmental armageddon. Reader’s Digest, which commissioned the survey, spoke with an advertising executive who said “Green” was a “damaged brand” and media saturation had led to “green fatigue”.
